My Gateway Oil

DigestZen

When you use essential oils and truly fall in love with them, it usually starts with one particular oil or blend. Mine was DigestZen.  

If you read the first blog post, you know my mother sent me a bunch of samples to try. In the mix was Lavender, Lemon, DigestZen and OnGuard. To this day, these are some of my favorites. While Lavender really helped my girls go to sleep, the magic happened and opened my eyes when I used DigestZen on myself.  

Picture this…I am about 6 months pregnant with baby number 3. I have 2 girls under 3 and I work full time.  I am so unable to eat most days because I felt like I was burning from my ankles to my throat. You know that old wives tale about heartburn leading to a baby with a full head of hair…it’s such a lie!  

I got home from work, feeling lousy again and my amazing husband decided I really needed to eat. He made one of my absolute favorite meals and I looked at it and just couldn’t eat. We had the samples so he said, “Why don’t you give them a try?” I was less than amused and figured it would be another thing that wouldn’t work.  

I was so wrong!  

I grabbed the book that explained what each oil supported and some tips for using it. My cynical self rubbed a few drops over my stomach and down my breastbone. Within minutes, I felt better and was SO HUNGRY! I ate like a champ that night and felt so much better. The next day we had a repeat but instead of just suffering, I gave the oil a second shot. Boom…it worked again. And again the next night….I hated the smell but loved the results.

When things work once, we know that’s luck but consistency means something. At least to me it does. I don’t think I am alone in that area. These oils had my attention. I looked up what the samples did for my family. OnGuard was my next oil to test. More in another blog.

That night, my husband and I looked up kit options to get started and decided to go with a bigger kit than we thought. It was such a great decision because through my pregnancy I needed them. After my baby was born, I needed them.  

To this day, I never leave home without a bottle of DigestZen with me. I have one in my flight bag that is easy to access. I have one by my desk and one in our main oil area.  

Here’s the crazier thing about DigestZen…it’s not just for your digestive tract. It helps open up those stuffy sinuses when the flowers bloom, it helps relieve some of the discomfort of menstrual cramps, and it can even help when your head is thumping away. One oil! So many uses.  

DigestZen has truly been my gateway oil into this whole crazy natural health world.
